This is Elijah's Tomb.

For eight years, Nathanael Sterr and Marcel Dyck have been bringing the metal and the message with bone-crushing drums and heavy guitars. When original bassist Anthony Sterr departed, the spot was filled by Nathanael's bride Melissa (who packs quite the power in her five-foot-one frame). The band's first full-length release is chock full of wild Iron Maiden-influenced solos, throbbing drums and Nathanael's distinctive vocals - sort of a cross between Blindside's CHRISTIAN LINDSKOG and JAME HETFIELD's rough drawl with just a dash of MORTIFICATION death metal for emphasis. No strangers to the Do-It-Yourself recording game (the band has two EPs under their belt), the new album features several fan-favorite songs and a host of powerful new tracks.

And they deliver live. With their own full, professional PA and sound board to ensure each show SOUNDS professional, Elijah's Tomb performances are top-notch. Sterr's guitar abilities are nothing short of spectacular. On top of the addictive riffing that drives the Tomb's music, the wild guitar solos harken back to EDDIE VAN HALEN, OZ FOX, REX CARROL, JOHN PETRUCCI and certainly the dual-guitar attack of IRON MAIDEN while bringing shred into the modern era. The rhythm section backs him up with consistent bass and blasting percussion, laying down the bedrock for Sterr's guitar heroics.

In 2005, Elijah's Tomb took the brand new full-length on the road and began to turn their potential into a career. They shared the stage with notable Canadian independent acts STEREOTRAP, KIROS and FRIDAY'S CRY while playing frequent gigs throughout Alberta, BC, Manitoba and the North West Territories. The Tomb co-headlined a Charity Fundraiser in Fairview AB with punk rockers FACELESS WARRIOR and performed at the 2005 DISTURBING THE PEACE youth retreat. 2006 is looking even better, with Elijah's Tomb performing at Edmonton's Concordia University College in March with RILEY ARMSTRONG and at the summer 2006 Godstock in Sherwood Park. Meanwhile, Sterr continues to build relationships with the music scene in the Peace Country, working as a professional sound technician for local gigs. Sterr has also recorded demos & albums for indie acts STARVING ZEALOTS & BOY CHARLIE in Dovefire Studios.

In between operating Dovefire Studios and holding down full-time jobs, Elijah's Tomb is in that strange space between full-time and part-time project. The exact future of Elijah's Tomb - major label interest or indie metal success- is uncertain. But what is certain is that The Tomb will consistently bring two things: The Metal and the Message. As hard as they can. [RYAN RO/2006]
